Lin Yinghuai, a venture capitalist moved by the poverty of Dongshan Village, helps its residents not just with money, but with sustainable livelihoods. At their pleading, he shares his prediction of a sharp rise in gold prices and even overexerts himself to secure more for them. Yet, in return, he faces betrayal from his fiancée and bitter misunderstanding from the very villagers he sought to lift up.
